21 May Drive Safer Successfully Launches The Season With Spring Launch Event At MetLife Stadium
Weather Helps Demonstrate Tough Driving Conditions
Even when the rain slowed to a drizzle in Northern New Jersey, it remained a “driving” rain in East Rutherford during the May 19th Drive Safer Spring Launch event at MetLife Stadium. The weather might have slickened the pavement, but it did not dampen the spirits of the young drivers who gathered to learn take Drive Safer’s focused car control course for teens that teaches them how to control their vehicles in the face of real world situations. Taught by a team of certified high-performance driving instructors, the program is designed to be safe, educational and fun.
Four behind the wheel exercises (Braking, Slalom, Skidpad and Hazard Avoidance) were set up across MetLife’s parking lot for the event. As each student made their way through the exercises, they learned how to control their vehicle while facing real road obstacles that are often a potentially dangerous test of a driver’s skills. The constant rain and dark skies didn’t stop students and their parents from enjoying the day. In fact, Mother Nature provided a great opportunity for those taking the course; Sunday’s participants learned the significant impact that rainfall and wet pavement have on driving.
Students walked away with increased confidence and knowledge of how to control their vehicle, while parents expressed their appreciation for the critical and potentially life-saving skills that were taught.
High School students whose school signed up with the Drive Safer program had 12% of their registration fee donated back to their school’s fundraising budget. To learn more about how your school can partner with Drive Safer, click here.
