Click It Or Ticket!

Memorial Day Weekend commences the summer season, drawing more people to the roads as they head off on vacation. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has one piece of advice: buckle up!

The annual Click It or Ticket campaign, which will run from May 20th to June 2nd, aims to increase seatbelt use amongst teens and young adults across the United States. This year, approximately 90% of New Jersey law enforcement agencies will be participating in the statewide initiative.

According to the NHTSA, over half (52 %) of the 21,253 passenger vehicle occupants killed in 2011 were not wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. Seat belts save thousands of lives each year and in order to make summer 2013 a safe one, law enforcement is making sure that motorists are taking the simplest of precautions.  The difference between fastening your seatbelt and choosing to ride without one could cost you your life.

Drive Safer’s advice? Always fasten your seatbelt. It can save your life, and you’ll save yourself the trouble of paying for a ticket.

Drive Safer offers a behind the wheel defensive driving course and two other defensive driving course options that meets the criteria to deduct points from your license AND get you an insurance reduction.
